I've been looking at my photo collection of the patchwork crafts I'd made for the past two years. Must admit, I don't have that many projects.
Here is another patchwork bag similar to the blue-themed design I uploaded before.
Yeah! This one took more than 1 year to be paid up too. Haha!

Terengganu Art of Life!
Since our departure journey from Terengganu was in the daytime of May 3rd, I took the chance to observe more of life in here that I didn't get to capture on May 1st.
Here are some of the quirky things that are the most memorable to me:
The display of Batik Kaftans and the arrays of colours are a normal sight in Malaysia BUT the difference with the ones in Terengganu is that instead of the usual cotton/viscose type, these Kaftans are made of SILK!
The Malays and the Chinese are more integrated here in Terengganu. That's the way the East Coast life is. How elated I was with pride when I saw the fine treasure of Malay culture i.e the Jawi alphabets on display everywhere even on a Chinese-owned premise. The Jawi is a major part of our history. Obviously derived from the Arabic alphabets brought in to the old Malacca (Melaka) Kingdom centuries ago by the Arabs. In my state of Melaka in the West Coast, the Jawi is only seen on Muslim graves mostly. How sad. You can't be more dead than THAT.
A quirky clever name to what seems like an advertising board design studio. Obviously a tribute to another reason Terengganu is famous for...........the Turtles!

Terengganu Keropok (Fish crackers!)
What's a visit to Terengganu if not for its famous keropok?
Keropok is actually a kind of fried cracker usually made of ground fish or prawns mixed with sago and some salt to taste.
Then the mixture is turned into a dough, rolled into a long sausage-like shape and boiled to cook. The cooked dough is then taken out and sliced thin if you want the crispy cracker type. These slices will be dried under the Sun and packed to be fried later.
The unsliced one is called "keropok lekor" and sold in its uncut long shape. The customer shall take it home and slice it any way she/he likes, thin or thick or totally uncut. Then to the frying pan. This type is more springy to eat but some prefer it this way.

The friendly and chatty Keropok lady!
The flower that fell off the tree
This beautiful flower fell off a branch of the tree we were sitting under on the beach of Kapas Island.
Its colour and shape seems to echo the marine life several feet away in the water.
The little friend I made on Kapas Island
This adorable baby came to this island without his parents who had to go up north for an emergency. He was taken here by his grandparents.

Here's little Baby Adib. The boy was so pretty I thought he was a baby girl at first.

Baywatch action on Kapas Island!
Who would have thought that a leisurely hanging out and snorkeling session on the morning of May, 2nd on Kapas Island turned into an episode of Baywatch?
As we sat relaxing on the white sand beach, a kayak capsized because the kayakkers were inexperienced.
At first, it looked funny and we laughed but as the minutes went by, the kayakkers seemed to be struggling. Only 10% of the poor kayak was now above the water.
Seeing this, my friend went over and helped while the rest of us "baywatch".

My friend to the rescue.

The snorkeling spot we went to.

The highly energetic boatguy who watched over us snorkeling. He looked after me all the way from the boat to the shore and back, swimming without the aid of a life jacket or any breathing apparatus. The guy lives for the sea!

A little place like Kokomo on the Island of Kapas!
Since the first day I stepped on the Island of Kapas, the first thing that caught my eye was this beach hut which reminds me a lot of that Tom Cruise movie and of course the song from The Beach Boys.......Kokomo!
Apparently, there really IS an interesting life on this island behind the sound of the electricity generator on the chalet compound and the laughter of the visitors.
We had a chat with one of the friendly workers here at this "Kokomo hut" and he told us about the places to explore, the action from another resort owned by a Dutchman nearby, young couples coming here to be away from prying eyes, things he and his friends would be up to on their spare time at night and many more. Just like the movie!
Always get friendly with the locals for stuff like this, I recommend that to ALL travellers.
I bet the guy at the snorkel station has a lot to tell as well. He lives upstairs right there.

1,2,3...............I Caught My First Squids!
When a friend suggested this trip to the Island of Kapas, Terengganu for Squid-catching, I specifically signed on for this experience of a lifetime. Not knowing at all what to expect.
Me sitting on the deck trying NOT to feel the rhythm of the sea.
What went in my mind was "Will I get seasick?" or "Will I catch any squid?" considering I never managed to catch a fish when I was a kid "helping" my uncles at the small river by my grandmother's house. I ended up being the "bait preparer" only back then.
I did catch my squids! Alas the tiniest 3 squids of the night belonged to me.
The rest of the night was spent in frustration for not catching anymore squids and of course........... the seasickness. This experience made me grateful for my job in the factory. Fishermen are so full of resilience having to go through this night after night.
I woke up to the sound of my friend's voice telling us all that we were heading back to the island as the squids kind of stopped surfacing.
Felt all dizzy and my head was throbbing from the seasickness. Thanks Heaven for this MP4 player.
I dedicated 1000 Meere from Tokio Hotel to myself......Wir müssen nur noch 1000 Meere weit!

The Life I Found on Pulau Kapas (Island of Kapas) Part 3
Famous for its squid-catching (mencandat sotong), visitors and travellers come from all over to participate and experience this here on Kapas Island of Terengganu.
The fishermen got us all onboard by very late afternoon.
As the boat rode the waves to the squid spot, leaving the island shore behind, I captured the view of the sunset from the tiny deck.
I never understood people’s fascination with sunset view till that moment.

A Fisherman's Life
Never knew a fisherman ever in my life before.
Here, I discovered the life behind the man who lives for the sea.
His home away from home.......the "utility room" cum "kitchen" cum "living room" cum "social spot"..........on board of his beloved boat.
Here, I discovered the life behind the man who lives for the sea.
The fishnet..........his lifeline.
The saviour of his soul......his home and the life that grows within it.

The Little Lives at Marang Jetty
The Marang Jetty was already bustling with people, cars, hawkers and fishermen by the time we arrived to catch our boat. Me and a bunch of friends hopped onto a speedboat for a wheezing ride to the Kapas Island.
The little Crabs wandering around at the Marang Jetty..........oblivious to the hustle and bustle around.
The Life I Found on Pulau Kapas (Island of Kapas) Part 2
I cherished the sight of wooden houses around me and the coconut tree skyline of Marang, Terengganu in the soft rays of the sunrise.
As we wheezed along the coastline, I captured as many and as best as I could the glistening sea and sky against the morning sun.
For a moment, I was transported back to that place I used to wish for where I would see myself running on the green grass on the hills with the breeze around me. I thought of the old days where my friends and I would cycle around our villages in the Eid festive season visiting people we didn’t even know but felt like neighbours anyway.
The freedom of childhood in my days when the narrow lanes and the bushes were safe playgrounds. Back in the days when children could live without fear.
Ah….nostalgia.
The Life I Found on Pulau Kapas (Island of Kapas) Part 1
It's been about 1 week since I left the Island of Kapas. I have got to share what I found there from the beginning till the end. The people, the spirit, the life...................
The journey from my state of Melaka to the east coast state of Trengganu did not go as planned. I ended up having to accompany a Trengganu girl on her way back hometown and switch places driving her brand new Perodua Viva 1.0 from Muadzam, Pahang at 3.15am all the way to Kemaman, Trengganu!
I was all groggy praying all the way I wouldn’t fall asleep on the steering and crash the car or lose sight of our convoy and miss a turn. Heaven knows how grateful I was when I was transferred to the KIA Pregio van I was originally meant to ride in. Had PAID for it!
The sunrise on the sky of Marang, Terengganu.
The moment I woke up to the morning sky of Trengganu, I breathed in the life that I used to know back when I was 8.
The view of the sunrise from the inside of our van.

Got a new LCD Samsung 743NX Monitor today!
Ok. This is annoying.
Yesterday, after I got back home from a dinner with friends, I found my 15" LCD Toshiba monitor remained blank after booting. Rebooted and reswitched. Whatever it took. Still didn't work. The screen stayed pitch black. Switched it off and went to sleep. Woke up the next morning and it still remained blank after booting up.
This was really getting on my nerves and I had to make an emergency purchase at the PC shop where I got my PC. Incidentally they were having a Samsung LCD Monitor promotion.

Got a 17" 743NX model. I didn't want a large screen. 17" is as big as I was willing to go. Had to whip out the credit card again. Man! I was just planning to reduce the balance on that card!
The cool thing about it is it has no buttons. You switch on by "Touching the invisible button" at the lower right corner. It also comes with some softwares such as Natural Color Pro 1.0 which Samsung claims to solve the problem of colours on monitor screen being different than the actual outcome when printing. I installed this one out of curiosity but as I still haven't got a printer at the moment, I can't really tell its function.
Oh! I was almost tearing my hair out when the Monitor Menu came out in Turkish! I was lost. Then I re-read the manual which came in the form of a CD and managed to figure out which Menu was the "Language setting" change.
I'm still trying to adjust myself to the higher resolution of 1280 x 1024 and bigger screen after years of using that 15" Toshiba 1024 x 768.
On the second day of using it, I saw some blurry spots on the screen. At first I was disappointed thinking that the monitor really was a faulty product. I'm not the type who despairs easily when it comes to technical stuff and gadgets. Out of curiosity, I touched the "AUTO button" placed just beside the "POWER button". To my delight, that solved the problem!
I highly recommend this monitor to everyone. It's easy to use. Very sleek design. The resolution accommodates ALL the major websites in the world. Best of all is the "invisible touch buttons" which not only give it a streamlined look but also make it look very very high-tech and design-forward.

Tom Kaulitz on my Startup Menu!
Got a surprise as I click my Startup Menu in the wee hours of the morning to find this.

One of my brothers obviously had meddled with my PC again except this time in a good way. Normally I would start my PC to find the settings changed, the history gone, the files rearranged, new weird softwares installed, things deleted etc. All without my permission of course!

This is Tom when he was still illegal for me to fancy.
It's probably for a teenie magazine. The photo had been touched up by the graphic artist in such a way that his lips turned Peony coloured.

I probably vibrated my energy strong enough to make my sibling think that if they're gonna mess with my stuff, they better treat em like it's me doing my stuff. What made him choose this photo is still beyond me.
